Lil Wayne, whose album “Tha Carter III” has been one of the year’s best sellers, received Grammy Award nominations in eight categories, including album of the year and best rap album. A mixed bag of nominations was announced during a televised concert on Wednesday night, representing a wide cross section of musical genres. The British rock band Coldplay scored seven nominations, including album of the year (for “Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends”) and record of the year, and Ne-Yo, Jay-Z and Kanye West garnered six nominations each. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss’s collaboration, “Raising Sand,” earned five nominations, including album of the year. But the young country star Taylor Swift, a nominee for best new artist in the last Grammys, received no nominations. The awards ceremony will be on Feb. 8 in Los Angeles.
